My objective is to make something that was not widely available. So I decided to use exotic and rare woods. I constantly search to find woods that are beautiful, durable and safe to use with foods.
There are literally thousands of wood species in the world. For instance, North America has Cherry, Maple and Black Walnut. These are common woods we see everyday that are beautiful and consistent. The woods from the world’s tropical areas offer a wider selection of colors and grain patterns. I combine the North American woods with tropical woods to give you unique designs.
A few of the imported hardwoods woods I use include: Merbau from Southeast Asia, Amazon Rosewood from Central America, Paudauk and Wenge from Africa, Cocobolo and Honduran Rosewood from South America, African Zebrawood, and South American Leopardwood. Unlike the North American hardwoods, the tropical woods differ widely within each species, kind of like a box of chocolates. One shipment may have a dozen pieces of the same species that may look like twelve different woods. I spend as much time designing and matching woods as I do constructing them. This is why no two boards are alike.
As you look at this collection. Keep in mind that once a board is sold, there will not be another exactly like it available.
I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them!
